I am currently selling my home, after signing the house over how soon will I receive the money?

I am in the process of selling my house to a friend, we are due to complete and I have to visit a solicitors to sign the house over on friday, how soon after signing the contracts will I receive the money from the sale?

    You will get the money at the closing. However, if there is a lien against the property they will get the money first and you will get the remainder. While an actual check used to be exchanged at closing, now it is mostly wire transfers so be sure to bring your banking information with you.

    You exchange your deed for the money at the same time.

    If the closing takes place at a title company or bank, they will arrange for your check to be given to you at the closing. If you deliver the deed to your lawyer before the closing, he will not hand it over to the buyer until the money is turned over to him to be delivered to you.

    you should get a check from the settlement company right at closing. The buyer brings a bank check, so there is no period for a check to clear.

    You should get a check when you sign. DO NOT sign without gettin a check.
