How to sell a house when the other party doesn’t want to sell?

MY girlfriend wants out of her house, but her boyfriend refuses to sell. What can she do? They are both on the mortgage, and the house is upside down in the mortgage.

    you (she) can pay a lawyer to go to court and force a sale. might not be worth it. Best if you can make a deal with the ex.

    Since she’s on the mortgage also, the only way is to convince the boyfriend to buy her out. They would have to decide on a fair selling price, then he would have to get his own mortgage to satisfy (pay off) the current one. Very tricky, especially with the house upside down.

    If he doesn’t want to sell because he thinks it’s worth more than it would sell for, suggest to him that he should buy it for that higher amount. Then he would be putting his money where his mouth is.
